This blog grew out of our two favorite things-travel and health!
Janice Blanchard MD PhD is an emergency medicine physician on faculty at the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington DC. An avid traveler, she has visited numerous international locations to teach and study medicine including India, the Czech Republic, China, Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco and Saudi Arabia. Janice has practiced emergency medicine for 20 years both locally and abroad. In addition to her clinical practice, she is a researcher with extensive skills in translating medical evidence into practice for patients, laypersons and policy makers. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, her Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health and a PhD in policy research from the RAND Graduate School. In addition to traveling, Janice likes bike riding, reading and cooking.
Theresa Stone MD, or Terri as she is affectionately known, is an internist practicing in Washington DC. Terri has practiced internal medicine for 20 years. For the past 3 years, she has been voted one of Washington’s Best Physicians in the Washingtonian Magazine. She has a special interest in lifestyle medicine, which incorporates meditation, nutrition and community support into clinical practice. She is an expert on the impact of mindfulness and a plant-based diet on lowering long-term health risks of diseases such as hypertension, obesity and Alzheimer’s. Terri incorporates evidence-based studies in her practice and approach to medical care and has completed advanced training at the Harvard Medical School Institute of Lifestyle Medicine including courses in meditation and healthy cooking/eating. She received her medical degree from the Georgetown School of Medicine. Terri loves traveling, cooking, yoga and bike riding.
